STONE ON STONE

Deborah Kressebuch lives on the Sheepalp in summer. She collects colored stones and grinds them into pigment. She looks for thin slates on which she captures the moment on the mountain with the colors from the mountain: Bedded on felted wool of her sheep lies stone on stone.

All pigment paintings were painted on slates she found and collected herself, they lie on individual wool felt and in a custom-fit wooden box. Wool felt, wooden box and the stone pigments were handmade by the artist. Pigments, slates and wool all come from the Schafalp on Gornergrat 2021, as do the motifs of the paintings.
